Music speaks for itself. True. But this song has a story attached to it.

“Forgotten Memories” is one of the most emotional tracks on the Sebastopol album. It allows the listener to look right through me and offers a glimpse into my most heartfelt feelings, past, present and future. The song evokes despair, hope, fear, faith, gratitude and happiness in equal measures. And if there’s a message, let it be this one: never give up. There’s always something or someone good out there for you. All you need to do is reach out.

On this track, I’m accompanied by the angelic voice of Chantal Acda. In an amazing way, she emphasizes this simple story, straight from the heart and devoid of dictionary-driven poetry. Some may call this naive. And I will thank them for it, because big unpronounceable sentences that require an Oxford literary degree to (mis)comprehend seldom result in true beauty. Naivety, on the other hand, often does.“Forgotten Memories” was the first vocal track of the album; it was overdubbed several times afterwards, but Chantal insisted on singing along to the very first take.

Meanwhile Kloot Per W, who has already spent threescore years on this planet, immediately understood just how to make his guitar cry and (gently) weep. It only took him 25 minutes to record the guitar track and complete the song's story. Fact: not one book-filled library can compete with a beautiful chord progression and a stunning guitar solo.

So there you are. Enjoy the song. Or not. No offence will be taken!
